Finding a Book on the Shelf

Using the Call Numbers - Dewey Decimal Classification System

A call number is found on the spine of a library book.  Books can be located in Brennan Library by type and use.

Reference books are all located in the lower level of the library. E.g., LASELL COLLEGE/Reference R 746.92 K38f 2013 Available

Graphic novels and fiction books are also located on lower level. Fiction books are in alphabetical order under the author’s last name. E.g., FICTION: Sparks

Reserve books are found behind the reference desk and may be checked out for 2 hours. An example of a reserve book from the catalog is: LASELL COLLEGE/ Reserve HON- 101C Shoemaker

All non-fiction books are located on the upper level of the library.

Our library uses the Dewey Decimal Classification System.
